Metro Aviation is committed to safety at the highest level and is often among the first to adopt new safety initiatives, even before required by the FAA.  Metro is honored to announce that industry veteran Ed Stockhausen is stepping into the company’s role of Director of Safety.

Ed began his career in 1977 as a Crew Chief and Load Master for the U.S. Army Parachute Team, The Golden Knights.  He has spent the last few decades diversifying his experience in a variety of leadership roles and contributing to the safety of the industry as a whole.  Since 2005, Ed has served as the Vice President of Safety for Air Methods, where he was instrumental in achieving SMS Level IV of the FAA’s SMS Pilot Project.  He is well known around the air medical and safety community, serving as the Safety Committee Chairman for the Air Medical Operators Association and serving as a member of the HAI Safety Committee.  He has developed and presented courses for the Association of Air Medical Services and published several safety articles in professional trade magazines.

“Ed is going to be an instrumental part of the Metro Aviation family and brings a wealth of experience to our company,” said Metro President Mike Stanberry.  “Ed shares our vision and I believe he will continue to help us improve and implement safety initiatives throughout our organization.”

As the Director of Safety, Ed will oversee initiatives at Metro’s completion center in Shreveport, Louisiana, as well as its 34 operational bases across the United States. Metro reached Level IV of the FAA’s SMS Pilot Project for both Part 135 and Part 145, and Ed will continue to improve the company’s existing practices.
