The Helicopter Flight Training Center (HFTC), a Metro Aviation company, is preparing to welcome the FlightSafety International (FSI) EC145 Level D full motion simulator to its fleet of high tech training devices.  The simulator is scheduled to be certified and available for pilot training July 1, and the reservation process is now open.

“Operators have been anxiously awaiting the availability of an EC145 Level D simulator to enhance their training,” says Training Center Director Terry Palmer.  “We are pleased to welcome these operators to the Helicopter Flight Training Center this summer and we are now taking reservations.”

This is the first EC145 Level D simulator in North America.  The simulator was reverse-engineered through a joint venture between Metro Aviation and FSI. The HFTC, based in Shreveport, LA, currently offers a FSI EC135 Level D simulator, an AS350 Level 7 flight training device and a Frasca Bell 407 Level 7 flight training device, all certified with night vision goggle capability.

All simulators are available for dry-lease, allowing helicopter operators to follow a custom training plan and use their own instructors.  The HFTC also offers a “train the trainer” program and training plan development assistance to aid operators in getting their training program started and running smoothly.

Operators interested in utilizing the simulators at the Helicopter Flight Training Center should contact Terry Palmer, tpalmer@metro.lunabyte.io, for more information.
