The Suffolk County Police Department recently added a new H145, formerly known as the EC145, to its fleet, replacing an older AS350B2.  Metro Aviation completed the twin-engine aircraft at its completion center in Shreveport, Louisiana.

“The completion process was smooth and seamless,” said Sergeant Brian Barrett, Commanding Officer for the police department’s aviation section.  “We are excited to add another twin engine aircraft with a fully-equipped medical and public safety interior to our fleet.”

The multi-mission aircraft will be utilized for search and rescue, law enforcement and medevac missions.  The interior includes an aluminum medical floor with avionics access, oxygen gas system, infrared camera system, Nightsun and the new Aerocomputers Model UC6000 Digital Mapping System.

“Adding this aircraft increases our capability to serve the citizens of Suffolk County,” said Barrett.  “We are very happy with the quality of the completion work and look forward to putting it to use.”

The 900 square miles of Suffolk County are located on Long Island. With the addition of the new aircraft, the department’s fleet consists of two AS350B2s and two H145s, which includes a H145 completed by Metro Aviation in 2007.
